FAQ

Answers to the common questions

The short answer: Harborside prints custom apparel with no quantity minimum and a $20 order minimum, $0 setup fees, a free digital proof within 24 hours, and 4 business days of production after approval. Screen print and DTF run $20/piece at 1–5 down to $7 at 250+; embroidery runs $24 down to $9. Orders of $50 or more ship free to all 50 states.

If your question isn't here, email orders@harborsideprint.com — we respond same business day.

Ordering & pricing

Is there a minimum quantity?

No quantity minimum. We don't require 12, 24, or 48 pieces the way most shops do. Our only rule is a $20 order minimum (one tee with a 1-color print already clears it, as does a single premium Carhartt hoodie with embroidery). Small runs get the same production quality as 500-piece runs. No setup fees, no screen fees.

Do you offer volume or bulk discounts?

Pricing drops automatically at every quantity tier (see Pricing). Orders of 250+ pieces are quoted individually — email orders@harborsideprint.com for a custom quote.

Do I pay before or after I see the proof?

You check out securely when you place your order — but your payment is refundable until the moment you approve your proof. Within 24 hours we email a free digital proof; request revisions — two rounds included free — or cancel for a refund. Production starts only after your approval.

How many revisions do I get, and what if I cancel?

Every order includes one design concept and two rounds of revisions — change the colour, the size, the placement, the font, and we'll send an updated proof. Extra rounds beyond those two are quoted before we do them.

Cancel before we start your design and you get 100% back. Cancel after design has begun but before you approve and we refund everything except a $25 design and prepress fee for the time already spent. Once you approve your proof the order goes to press and can't be cancelled. Full terms on our refund page.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

If your order doesn't match the proof you approved, we reprint it or refund it. That's the point of the proof — what you approve is what you get.

Production, shipping & turnaround

How long does production take?

Standard production is 4 business days from proof approval (DTF orders often run 1–3 days). Rush orders ship in 2 business days for a flat $50 fee on any order size.

How much is shipping?

Orders of $50 or more ship free (where most orders naturally land). Orders from $20 to $50 ship for a flat $12, US-wide. Ships via UPS or USPS with tracking to all 50 states. Most orders leave our shop within 4 business days after proof approval.

Where do you ship from?

Every order is printed, embroidered, and shipped from our own in-house shop on the East Coast — free to all 50 states with tracking. We don't offer in-person service; all orders ship via UPS/USPS.

Artwork & design

What file format should I send?

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) give the cleanest results. High-res PNG at 300 DPI also works great, especially for DTF. Send what you have — if there's a problem we'll tell you immediately.

Can you design my artwork?

Yes. In-house design is available for logos, layouts, and full artwork. Describe what you need in the order notes and we'll include a design quote with your proof. Most simple layouts run $45–$85.

Screen print or DTF — which should I pick?

You don't have to. Tell us your design and quantity and we'll pick the method that looks best and costs least — shown on your proof. Rule of thumb: solid-color logos at 24+ pieces favor screen printing; full-color art and small runs favor DTF.

Do you keep my design on file for reorders?

Yes. Screens, stitch files, and artwork are all kept on file. Reorders skip setup entirely and usually ship a day or two faster than the original order.

Garments, embroidery & workwear

Do you print on Carhartt and workwear?

Absolutely — it's a specialty. We stock and decorate Carhartt tees, hoodies, and jackets, plus Port Authority and hi-vis workwear. Embroidery is the most popular choice for a durable, professional result. See our Carhartt embroidery page.

What's the embroidery digitization fee?

A one-time $55 fee per new logo converts your artwork into a stitch file. We digitize in-house. Every reorder of the same logo is free, forever — we keep it on file.

Can you handle team orders with names and numbers?

Yes — names, numbers, mixed sizes, and mixed garments are our bread and butter. For orders of 12+, ask about our free size-collection sheet to make gathering team sizes painless.

Can I mix sizes in one order?

Yes. Mix any sizes, S through 5XL, in one order. Extended sizes (2XL, 3XL, 4XL) carry small upcharges ($2, $3, $4) because the blank costs more from the wholesaler — that's an industry norm.

Do you do embroidered polos for company staff uniforms?

Yes — embroidered polos are one of our biggest categories. Port Authority K500 (silk touch) is our most-ordered polo. Left-chest logo is the industry standard. See our embroidery page for full pricing and blank options.

Do you print or embroider on hats and beanies?

Yes. We embroider on Richardson 112 truckers, Port & Company CP80 dad caps, Port Authority C402 snapbacks, and cuffed beanies. DTF works on some cap styles but embroidery is the durable pro choice. Same $55 one-time digitizing fee applies (waived on 24+ pieces).

Can you match a specific Pantone color?

Yes, for screen printing we mix Pantone-matched ink for accurate brand colors. There's a small ink-mixing fee ($15–$25) if your color isn't standard. DTF and embroidery match colors as closely as possible within the standard ink/thread library.

How much things cost

How much do custom t-shirts cost for 12 / 24 / 50 / 100 shirts?

Rough ballpark on a one-color front print on a Gildan 5000: 6 shirts $84 shipped free, 12 shirts $144 shipped free, 24 shirts $240 shipped free, 48 shirts $432 shipped free, 100 shirts $800 shipped free. Premium blanks like Bella+Canvas add $4/piece. See our full pricing page or the detailed cost breakdown.

How fast can you do a rush order?

Rush production is 2 business days for a flat $50 fee — any quantity, any print method. Total door-to-door with tracked shipping usually lands at 4–6 total days. If you need it faster than that (48 hours for an event, for example), call first — we've turned events around in 24 hours before but we need to know in advance.

Do you ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico?

Yes. We ship to all 50 states and Puerto Rico with tracking — free over $50, flat $12 under. Hawaii and Alaska add 1–2 business days to standard ground transit.

What's the difference between screen printing, DTF, and embroidery?

Screen printing pushes ink through mesh screens onto fabric — bold, vibrant, cheapest at high volume (24+ pieces). DTF (direct-to-film) prints your design onto transfer film that's heat-pressed on — full color, small runs OK, best for small runs and photographic art. Embroidery stitches thread directly into the fabric — premium look, ideal for polos, hats, jackets, and workwear.

Comparing us to other print shops

How does Harborside pricing compare to CustomInk, Printful, or Vistaprint?

For 12–100 pieces (our sweet spot), Harborside is competitive with CustomInk while giving you real proofs, human email replies, and no setup fees. At high volume (250+ pieces), we drop to $7/pc which matches most big printers. At small runs (6–24 pieces), we're in the same ballpark as CustomInk — but with faster proof turnaround and a shop that picks up the phone.

Why do you have no quantity minimum when other shops require 12 or 24?

Because we invested in DTF (direct-to-film) equipment that has zero screen setup. Screen-only shops require 12–24 piece minimums because they need to recoup the screen-burning cost. DTF has no screens, so 6 shirts costs us the same per-piece as 20. That's why we can offer no minimum on quantity — order one premium hoodie, six budget tees, or three polos, whichever adds up to $25+.

What if I need to reorder later — do I have to pay setup again?

No. We keep every screen, stitch file, and DTF art on file forever. Reorder the same design a year later and you pay only the per-piece cost — no setup, no digitizing fee. The $20 order minimum still applies. Just email us or use the reorder link in your original receipt.
